Ava: Favorite Piece in Painting is my Everything

I found Kapoori Devi’s Radha and Krishna under a kadamba tree (1985) to be one of the most visually appealing of the pieces in the exhibit. Devi’s use of earth tones and natural colors combined with the mythical iconography was quite unique and fascinating. I am more accustomed to seeing gods and deities combined with bright, more expensive colors rather than natural dyes like those which come from berries or other fruit. The story is also quite charming as it explores the connection and dynamic between the gods and their disciples.
